Day 14

This is supposed to be the magical day. My scabs are still intact but they continue to shrink. Talking too much hurts but it is much easier. Eating/swallowing is pretty easy now. Still not quite ready for chips and salsa or steak though. Yawning still hurts. I can blow my nose without pain. Reaching my back teeth with my tongue is still painful. My throat feels dry a lot and I have been carrying around Biotene spray and mints. I will be able to eat and enjoy s traditional Thanksgiving meal :)

  2. Some people are still in terrible pain through Day 21. Warm, clear soups can really help. Ice packs around your neck/throat helps. Oddly enough, swallowing helps you heal so make sure you are staying hydrated and chewing and swallowing something other than liquids, even if it hurts. I promise, the pain will go away and it will one day be a blip in time. Hang in there! <3

  4. Oh thank you, Tesla, I'm so happy to have helped in some small way. You'll notice that I stopped blogging before I completely healed and that's because,as I recall, I was back in the swing of things and my tonsillectomy was no longer constantly on my mind. You are on the home stretch so just hang on a little longer! In another week you will feel like yourself again. 5 years later, I have no regrets and only wish I had done it sooner. I actually had a nightmare last night that my tonsils grew back. That's how much I hated them, lol. I hope you are feeling better very soon!

  5. What did you do about the Tate of the scabs as they fall off. I want to gag and throw up every time I swallow. It’s unbearable. I keep eating drinking things with high flavor to mask it but it barely does. I wish I c
    ould numb my taste buds.

  6. You can try gargling with warm salt water. Eat warm soups and try to eat some solids, it helps the scabs deteriorate. I can't fully remember what I did for this but perhaps place some vapor rub in or under nose. You're almost out of the misery so hang in there!

  7. Oh I see in another post I used Biotene spray (any dry mouth mouth wash would do) and ate a lot of Altoid peppermints.
